Workspace

It takes a lot of space to build these pieces, and to store the mindbogglingly huge amounts of stuff I've acumulated for parts and tools. Fortunately I was able to rent my brother in law's basement to use as a studio/storage unit.

When I'm in the middle of a construction frenzy, things tend to get a little scattered, but I do my best to keep things organized.

Parts

I find parts from various sources, such as garage sales, bargain stores, scrap yards and when necessary, *ouch!* retail stores. I've even rescued an item or two from the backlane dumpster.

Some parts I seek out specifically to fill a need for one of my projects, while others I pick up because they look like something I could use in the future. Still other items (such as rubber grommets, screws, etc.) are so useful for such a large variety of things that I try to always have a supply on hand.

"Before and After" (of sorts)

These images show examples of parts I use, and how similar parts have been implemented into actual projects.

This first set of images shows an old broken vaccuum tube (top) and a similar object incorporated into the Autosurgery Medical Device, aka: "The Chair" (bottom).

Some portable CRT television monitors (top) and a painted one used in the Time Manipulation Control Centre (bottom).

An old pressure gauge from a salvage yard (top) and a similar (even older?) one decorated and incorporated into the Time Manipulation Device (bottom).

May 24th, 2011 - Dumpster Score!

Well, not exactly dumpster, but next to it!

Someone left an old barbeque out next to the bin, resulting in an excellent parts score for me!
